Many people give up because of their disabilities. I, for one, suffer from major depression and nearly gave up a couple for times. That is why I admire those who keep on going no matter what. This admiration is much stronger when the fighter is a kid.
People often perceive kids as weak. However, seeing how my kids struggled, fought, and learned to manage their mental health proved to me that they are usually more resilient than adults. They can figure out how to bounce back from their conditions.
Here are three kids who show courage and resilience despite their disabilities.
Boy with prosthetic legs walks to help a hospital.
What I especially love about 6-year-old, Tony Hudgell, is his sense of gratitude. He did not only walk to show that he can do it with his prosthetic legs. He walked so he could raise money to help the hospital that cared for him.
The little boy walked daily around the local park. He only wanted to raise £500 ($550), but donations flooded as more people learned of his inspiring walk. He walked a total of six miles and raised around £1M for the hospital.
Boy, who lost one leg, continues with gymnastics.
Just weeks after he lost his leg, Max Clark is already back to jumping on his trampoline. He is doing his flips and other “crazy things.”
Max had an amputation after a bike hit him on May 25. The motorcyclist received a sentence of three years in jail. Meanwhile, Max received a prosthetic leg, which he calls “robot leg.”
I love the positive vibe of Max. He was even quoted as saying, “I just needed the trust in myself,” so he could do the flips and leaps.
Medically Fragile boy walks by himself
Grayson is medically fragile. I had to google the term because it is new to me. Apparently, a medically fragile condition is a chronic physical condition that results in prolonged dependency on medical care.
Grayson was born prematurely. He was adopted by Diane and Tim, who are doing their best to support Grayson.
This boy is fearless. He had already gone through several surgeries and several life-threatening conditions. Before the age of four, Grayson had to breathe with a trach.
However, nothing can stop this boy. His courage makes him even take steps without his walker.
If you want to follow Grayson’s progress, check out his Facebook page, and you may send help also through his GoFundMe page.
